Ammunition running low in northern Illinois police departments

DEKALB (WREX) -

The ammunition supply is tight and some local police departments are feeling the pinch.

According to DeKalb Police Chief Gene Lowery, his department is currently waiting two to five months for handgun ammunition. The Orland Park police chief has similar complaints.

Quincy's Williams Shooters Supply distributes ammunition both commercially and to local police department. The company's owner, Kent Williams, says manufacturers are aware of the issue facing police departments, but he expects to run into problems making deliveries on time for most of the year.
