The only Republican left on President Barack Obama's first term Cabinet is leaving his post.
Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is leaving the administration, but intends to remain at the Department of Transportation until his successor is confirmed. During his time as Transportation Secretary, the former Illinois congressman focused on curbing distracted driving and promoting high speed rail projects.
He does not plan to run for public office in his home state of Illinois.
