ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Although Monday's weather was unseasonably warm, some local travelers took to the skies for Jamaica's sun and beaches.

Apple Vacations began service to Montego Bay, Jamaica from the Chicago Rockford International Airport on January 28. The service offers weekly departure and return flights and runs through April 1, 2013.

"Because of the support from area travel agents and consumers, we are able to grow our Rockford flights in 2013 to include exciting destinations like Jamaica," Apple Vacations General Manager and Vice President Mark Noennig said. "We are hopeful that the new Jamaica program is a success and that we can continue to count on that support to carry us through the winter season."

Apple Vacations also offers Rockford flights to Cancun and Punta Cana. Tickets are available through www.flyrfd.com, www.applevacations.com, or through a local travel agent.
