The Beloit Police Department is looking for information related to a shooting that occurred at St. Lawrence Avenue and Moore Street on Saturday, January 26.
According to police, two people were walking west on St. Lawrence around 1:00 p.m. on Saturday when a white, four-door, full-sized vehicle traveling north on Moore approached them. Two suspects in the vehicle confronted the victims from the car, possibly a Buick, but the victims did not know the suspects and kept walking.
Police say the driver of the vehicle then fired multiple shots before driving north on Moore.
A 19-year-old male was shot in the leg and underwent surgery to have the bullet removed. The other victim, a 20-year-old male, was not injured.
The driver and suspected shooter is described as approximately 23 years old with a short faded haircut and no facial hair. The passenger of the suspect vehicle is described as a male in his early twenties with a stocky build, well-groomed "chin strap" style beard and mustache. He was wearing a Royal blue cap, blue button-up shirt, and a South Pole coat with the letters "PF" on the right chest.
According to police, the two suspects displayed gang signs and yelled gang-related phrases during the incident, but the two victims have no known gang affiliations.
Anyone with any information on this incident is encouraged to call the Beloit Police Department at 608-364-6801 or Beloit Area Crime Stoppers at 608-362-7463.
