Trial beginning for Galena man charged in boating death

Jury selection is set to begin in the Iowa trial against a Galena man.

Forty-year-old Kent Hoffman has been charged in the 2012 boating death of 45-year-old James Sutton of Maquoketa, Iowa. Prosecutors say Hoffman was drunk when the boat he was driving ran over another boat in Dubuque's Schmidt Harbor. Sutton was killed. His passenger, Lori Fey, was not seriously injured.

Hoffman has pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter and operating a boat while intoxicated, causing a fatal accident.
