Salmonella outbreak reaches Illinois

A salmonella outbreak linked to ground beef has sickened at least 16 people in five states.

Half of those sixteen were hospitalized, with most of the illnesses occurring in Michigan. There have also been cases in Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have linked the outbreak to the recall of over 1,000 pounds of ground beef from Michigan businesses Gab Halal Foods and Jouni Meats.
