Ammonia leak shuts down Rockford road

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

American Road in Rockford is shut down after a Friday afternoon chemical spill.

Members of the Rockford Fire Department responded to Rockford Heat Treaters around noon on January 25 for an ammonia leak.

The business was evacuated and the department is working on cleaning up the spill.

The road is closed to traffic.
