ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Traffic at the Chicago Rockford International Airport was down last month, but overall 2012 traffic was up compared to 2011.

Just over 15,120 passengers passed through RFD in December, down 16.9 percent compared to December 2011's number of 18,214. Flights last month were 88 percent full.

Despite the decline, 2012 saw a 10.3 percent increase in traffic for the airport, serving 210,406 passengers. The airport served 190,767 passengers in 2011.

The airport will begin service to Montego Bay through Apple Vacations on January 28, 2013, and service to Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda, Florida through Allegiant on February 14.
