BILLINGS, MT (WREX) -- Homicide charges will be filed against one of the two men suspected of kidnapping a man with ties to Rockford.

Dejuan Laster was found dead on Sunday outside Billings, Montana. Prosecutors say Simon Jacobson and James Walker kidnapped Laster from a Billings hotel room on January 17 with the intent to rob him.

The two men were arrested earlier this week, Jacobson in Colorado on a probation violation. He waived his extradition proceedings and is expected to be returned to Montana within the next month. Walker told police the two drove Laster to a dead end road and Jacobson shot Laster multiple times.

Yellowstone County Attorney Scott Twito expects to file homicide charges against Jacobson on January 25.

Walker made an appearance in court on Thursday, January 24, when his bond was set at $500,000 for kidnapping and robbery charges.

The Associated Press cites Laster's hometown as Rockford, but there have been reports that he lives in Schaumburg. Laster does, however, have a criminal history that ties him to Rockford.
