Friends, family, and the community stepped out on Thursday to help replenish the region's blood supply and support an Oregon firefighter.
Firefighter Thomas Jones and his fiance, Chelsea Janssen, are both suffering from severe burns after a recent incident. Both Jones and Janssen have received blood as part of their treatment, and their families felt hosting a blood drive was a good way to give back so blood can be used to treat others in the community.
The Oregon Fire Protection District and the Oregon Firefighters Association teamed up to host the drive with the Rock River Valley Blood Center.
If you couldn't make it to the blood drive in Oregon, you can still give back by visiting www.rrvbc.org to make an appointment to give blood.
