ROCKFORD (WREX) -
Adults who have been unemployed for at least 18 months have a chance to get back to school thanks to Rockford College.
Qualified adults can enroll in the school's accelerated Bachelor of Science in Management Studies program and, after all eligible state and federal student aid is applied, have their remaining tuition covered. Students will also get access to Rockford College's Career Services, Northern Illinois Center for Nonprofit Excellence, and the Family Business Center.
Applications are currently being accepted and it is recommended that individuals begin the application process immediately so they can secure all available federal and state funds before cohort start dates begin in August and October.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Illinois resident at least 25 years old
- Unemployed for at least 18 months
- Illinois resident for one year of the length of time corresponding to MAP eligibility
- Some college credit required with a minimum GPA of 2.0
- United States citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) of zero (calculated from the FAFSA application)
- File the FAFSA in time to receive MAP funding
- Be MAP eligible
- Have not previously earned a bachelor's degree
