Parents and students check out the Creative and Performing Arts program at West Middle School.
The school allowed interested students to attend today's walk through of the CAPA program. It's an effort to expose more students to the arts. Prospective students will audition in all four categories including dance, music, theater and visual arts. The program is busy recruiting, stopping at Rockford public elementary schools to spark interest in soon-to-be middle school students.
CAPA Team Leader, Julie Hindenburg encourages any student who loves art to check the program out.
"If there's a student who learns a little bit differently or loves art so much that they want to go deeper into those arts and want that to be a focus in their academic day, I think this is definitely the program for them."
Shadow dates are available to schedule, by appointment only.
