Belvidere begins Citizen Police Academy

The Belvidere Police Department's annual Citizen Police Academy kicked off Wednesday to give the public a glimpse into the life of a police officer.

Each Wednesday evening, participants meet at the Belvidere/Boone County Public Safety Building for sessions covering topics like gang and drug operations, crime scene investigations and equipment, and K9 operations.

Each session is approximately two to three hours long and pre-registration was required. For more information on the program, call 815-544-9626, extension 5548.
