With their district over $2 million in debt, the board for Meridian CUSD #223 will ask the public for an increase in taxes.
The board passed a resolution to ask the public for a referendum on Tuesday, January 22. The referendum on the April 9 ballot will ask voters for an increase in the education fund tax levy. It is unknown just how much the referendum will ask for, but the board hopes to get about $1.5 million from the increase.
A public hearing will be held on the matter at 7:00 p.m. on January 29 at Highland Elementary School in Stillman Valley.
