Winnebago County Health Dept. offering cholesterol clinic

As a part of National Heart Month in February, the Winnebago County Health Department is offering special prices on cholesterol screenings.

The department will host several walk-in clinics at Heartland Community Church between February 7 and February 9 offering Lipid Panels and Comprehensive Metabolic Panels. The tests require a ten-hour fast, but its recommended that those who take the tests drink plenty of water prior to doing so.

A Lipid Panel will test cholesterol components, triglycerides, and a risk ratio. A Complete Metabolic Panel test checks glucose, some kidney functions, some liver functions, some electrolytes, and blood proteins.

The clinics will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on February 7 and February 8 and from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on February 9. The cost is $25. Heartland Church is located at 1280 South Alpine Road in Rockford.
