Deputies with the Rock County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of North Little Road and County Highway A in the Town of Janesville just before 8:30 p.m. on Monday evening. A caller reported seeing a man walking and stumbling in the road near that area. The temperature at that time was two degrees, with a windchill of negative 14.

A white male wearing a tan coat with dark pants, had difficulty keeping his balance and was occasionally falling, according to the caller. The man is believed to be in his late forties to late fifties, about six feet tall, and weighing about 220 to 230 pounds with dark or gray facial hair.

A search for the man was initiated at 8:34 p.m. with the help of the Janesville Police Department's K-9 Unit, the City of Janesville Fire Department, and the RCSO Rec. Safety Team. The DNR was also called in for the use of their airplane, which is equipped with thermal imaging.

An extensive search for the man was called off around 4:24 a.m. Anyone with any information on the man's well-being should call the Rock County 911 Center's non-emergency number at 608-757-2244.
