Sorority spends time with local veterans

Posted:

Local sorority members take part in National Martin Luther King Service Day.

The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority fed local veterans pizza and salad all while hearing their personal stories.  This is just one of the community service projects the organization is working on.

Alpha Kappa Alpha's President, Becky Kendall says this is a great way to show those who served our country, that we care.

"Martin Luther King lived the dream.  Martin Luther King saw this as a need to interface with veterans and this was part of his whole initiative of bringing people to the fold and getting them to work together in the community."

The sorority currently has a partnership with Kennedy Middle School, teaching 14 young ladies the responsibilities of being a leader.
