ROCK COUNTY (WREX) -

A man was injured Thursday afternoon while working on the fuel system of a vehicle that then caught fire.

Firefighters responded to 8201 N. County H just after 1:00 p.m. There, they found a barn fully engulfed in flames. Rick E. Thompson, 54, had been working on the fuel system of a vehicle in the barn when the fuel ignited with a work light, starting a fire.

Thompson escaped, but he was burned on his legs and arms. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The barn appears to be a total loss. County H between West County M and Gibbs Lake Road will be closed until early evening on Thursday to allow for clean up.
