Mobil on Broadway robbed after robbery attempt at Walgreen's

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford Police are looking for a suspect in two separate cases at Walgreen's on Charles Street and the Mobil gas station on Broadway.

Police responded to Walgreen's around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday regarding a suspicious person inside the store. The man was wearing a green hoodie and black mask with a handkerchief on his face. The man ordered a cashier to the store's register, but the cashier contacted a manager who went to the register instead.

The suspect ordered the manager to open the register, but the manager ran to the back of the store and called police instead. The suspect left the store before police arrived.

Less than twenty minutes later, police responded to the Mobil gas station on Broadway for an aggravated robbery. The clerk said a man wearing the same clothing as the Walgreen's suspect entered the store with bags over his hands. The clerk thought he was armed with a gun. The man then ordered the clerk behind the counter and took an unknown amount of money from the register before running away from the store.

The suspect is described as a male wearing a green hoodie with white lettering and a black mask with a handkerchief. A gray shirt was seen underneath the hoodie. He was also wearing faded carpenter jeans and gray tennis shoes with white trim and laces.

Anyone with any information on these incidents is encouraged to call Rockford Police at 815-987-5824 or CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867.
