Hurricane Sandy had an effect on more than homes and power supplies. Many cars were also affected, and consumers should be aware before they buy a possibly-damaged vehicle.
Locally, car companies are making sure inspections are done prior to selling any cars. If you're in the market for a used car, be aware and make sure to check its title history.
Charles Kurt, owner of Kurt's Automotive, says to be on the look out for cars that are five years old or newer because they "will come back into the market and be re-marketed because they think they're not badly hurt, and of course, nobody really knows, and you don't want to be the guy to be the guinea pig to find out."
Kurt says flood damage in a vehicle should be declared by the seller.
