Two Highland Community College Students have the chance to receive a $2,500 scholarship if they're chosen to join the All-USA Community College Academic Team.
Katharyn Jones and Jenny Marie Farmer have been nominated for the team, but only 20 students nationwide will make it. Those students will each get a $2,500 scholarship, a medallion, be featured in USA TODAY, and be presented at Phi Theta Kappa's Presidents Breakfast in San Francisco.
Jones hails from Alpena, Michigan and is earning an Associate of Arts transfer degree with the hopes of earning a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education and a master's in Library Science. Farmer hails from Lena, serves as the HCC Board of Trustees student representative, and will earn an Associate of Science in Accounting before majoring in Accounting at Northern Illinois University.
Both girls have a 4.0 GPA and are active in HCC's Phi Theta Kappa chapter.
