Improved roads and infrastructure, decreased spending, and economic development are the focuses for the Byron alderwoman who has cast her hat in the race for mayor.
Ward Four Alderwoman Christy Hanlin announced her candidacy on Sunday, inviting the current mayor to a public debate on the issues facing both Byron and the surrounding region.
Hanlin, a political and fiscal conservative, has proposed initiatives like a countywide economic development council, reducing departmental spending, and reducing city legal fees.
She has previously chaired the Public Works Committee and the Health and Ordinance Committee. She has also served on the Planning and Development, Personnel and Finance, Police, and Community Services committees.
