Chief of Rockford's Northwest Fire Protection District passes away


The chief of the Northwest Fire department in Rockford passed away this morning.
Tom Ragnar Sr. had some health issues over the past couple of years and was recently diagnosed with liver cancer.  He was still an active chief for Northwest Fire.  He spent 50 years on the department and was promoted to chief in 1999.  

The visitation is Sunday from one to five p.m. at Olson Funeral Home's North Main chapel.  His funeral is at 10 a.m. Monday at the Faith Center off South Main Street.  Ragnar was 69.
