Illinois no longer holds the silver medal in corn producing thanks to last summer's drought that wreaked havoc on crops around the state.
According to a report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Illinois is now the country's fourth top corn producer, being overtaken by Minnesota and Nebraska. Iowa kept its hold on the top spot.
Farmers in Illinois produced 1.3 billion bushels of corn last year, down from 1.9 billion bushels for both 2011 and 2010.
The soybean harvest was also down, with 383.6 million bushels compared to 2011's 423 million and 2010's 466 million.
