Rockford group donates to Northern Illinois Food Bank

Rockford Orthopedic Associates will donate $34,255 to help support Northern Illinois Food Bank's Child Nutrition Program in Winnebago County.

The food bank runs 19 child nutrition programs in Winnebago County. One of those programs, at Patriot's Gateway Community Center, feeds almost 100 children at risk of hunger during its after-school program.

Throughout the county, the programs serve about 1,300 children each weekday. The food bank's BackPack Program, which provides kids with a backpack of food for the weekend, gives about 820 backpacks of food to students at 23 schools each month.

Rockford Orthopedic Associates has given over $227,000 to the food bank to support programs for needy children over the past nine years.
