Belvidere police release results of holiday enforcement

BELVIDERE (WREX) -

The Belvidere Police Department stepped up its enforcement over the holidays, leading to 39 tickets and arrests.

The special enforcement ran from December 17 to January 1 and used funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation to hire off-duty officers. Thirty-nine traffic stops were conducted and resulted in the following tickets or arrests:

  • 9 - Uninsured
  • 1 - DUI
  • 2 - Speeding
  • 11 - Seat Belt
  • 1 - Suspended/Revoked/Unlicensed
  • 6 - Minors possessing/consuming alcohol
  • 1 - Child Seat
  • 2 - Illegal Transportation/Alcohol
  • 2 - Registration
  • 2 - Other Moving Violations
  • 1 - Equipment
  • 1 - Warrant
