Short standoff leads to Beloit man's arrest

A short standoff ended with the peaceful arrest of an armed Beloit man Wednesday afternoon.

Just before 2:00 p.m., police responded to a call in the 1700 block of Pine Street regarding a person armed with a handgun. The caller was able to leave the house and told police the armed subject was David Hanna, who is not a resident of that home.

A perimeter was established around the home and members of the Beloit Police Department's Crisis Negotiations Unit tried to talk to Hanna through a PA system. This was attempted for over two hours, but to no avail. The SWAT Team was then called and as the Tactical Team made its way toward the home, Hanna left the house and was arrested without incident. A 9mm handgun was recovered from the scene.

David Hanna has been charged with the following:

  • Disorderly conduct while armed
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Failure to comply with law enforcement

He is currently being held in the Rock County Jail.
