UPDATE:
Two teen girls are in critical condition after a Wednesday night car crash in the 6100 block of North Second in Loves Park.

The girls, 13 and 14, broke out of a group home in Elgin. The car, driven by the 13-year-old, was stolen out of Elgin on Tuesday. The 14-year-old was a passenger and two men were also in the back seat. Those men have serious injuries.

Prior to the crash, an officer spotted the Corolla, which was involved in an issue earlier in the day. When the officer turned around, the Corolla ran a red light. That's when the officer turned on his lights and saw the Corolla hit a GMC pickup head-on.

The driver of the pickup was cited with a DUI and was treated for injuries and released.

Police are investigating a serious car crash in Loves Park.

Around 7:40 p.m., Loves Park police and fire departments were sent to an accident at Illinois 251 just north of Theodore Street.  According to our media partners at Rockford Register Star, while trying to elude police, a Toyota Corolla drove crossed the median and crashed head on with a pickup truck.  At least one person was so badly injured, that a helicopter flew in to take them to a local hospital.  Four others were transported by ambulance.
