Cullerton chosen as Illinois Senate President

Members of the newly inaugurated Illinois Senate have chosen John Cullerton as the body's president once again.

The Chicago democrat will serve his third two-year term over a Senate with a 40 to 19 majority of Democrats over Republicans, the most Democrats elected to the Senate in 120 years.

Cullerton has been in the Senate since 1991. Prior to that, he served 12 years in the House.

Republican Senator Christine Radogno will serve as the minority leader.
