Man pleads guilty to DUI in fatal Rockford motorcycle crash


A man admitted he was drunk when he caused a fatal motorcycle accident at Perryville and Guilford Roads in 2009.

Ricky Tapp was driving the motorcycle that was carrying Margaret Dahl when he failed to stop for a police car that was driving by with its lights and sirens on. Another motorcycle Tapp was riding with stopped, and Tapp struck that bike, throwing Dahl and himself from his bike.

Dahl died several days later. Tapp was also seriously injured in the accident.

Tapp pleaded guilty Friday, January 4, 2013 to aggravated DUI causing death. He's scheduled to be sentenced in February.
