The man representing Nicholas Sheley is asking for a new trial in one of the eight murders Sheley is accused of.
Sheley has been found guilty in two of the eight murders that took place in several states in 2008. The motion for a new trial will be heard on January 16, the same day he is scheduled to be sentenced for the death of 93-year-old Sterling man Russell Reed.
Jeremy Karlin, Sheley's attorney, says there were 89 judicial errors in the case against Sheley.
Sheley is currently serving a life sentence in the death of a Galesburg man.
