Former Fire Chief Ron Weavel laid to rest - WREX.com – Rockford’s News Leader

The community says a final good-bye to Ron Weavel, as he is laid to rest. The retired fire chief lost his short battle with pancreatic cancer.
In addition to being involved in several civic organizations, Weavel spent several years as Rockton's fire chief before he retired in 2009.
Dozens of firefighters from all over the Rockford area were there to pay respects. Weavel was 72.
