Belvidere Police seeking information on weekend shooting

The Belvidere Police Department is asking for the public's help in solving a possibly gang-related shooting that occurred on January 5.

Officers responded to a home in the 2100 block of Tobyne Drive just before 5:00 p.m. that day. There, they found a 16-year-old male who had been shot multiple times in the legs. The victim is a known gang member in Belvidere.

Investigators believe the shooting occurred in the area of Strawberry Lane and West Harrison Avenue in Belvidere. The victim was in that area when he was approached by a man wearing black and a mask. The suspect ran away after the shooting.
