Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition postponed for lack of snow

This year's 27th Annual Illinois Snow Sculpting Competition will not be taking place on January 16, as was originally scheduled.

Due to lack of snow in the area, the event will now take place from January 23 to January 26. The event, which is held at Sinnissippi Park, will feature teams from around Illinois competing for a chance to represent the state in the U.S. Nationals Snow Sculpting Competition.

"We made this decision based on the fact that currently there are not large enough snow piles at the Chicago Rockford International Airport and the snow quality is poor due to dirt and ice," John Beck, Rockford Park District Events and Recreation Projects Manager, said. "At this time, there is also no measurable snowfall expected over the next week."
