A crash in unincorporated Marengo Township claimed the life of a 63-year-old Garden Prairie man early Friday morning.
Crews responded to the 22900 block of U.S. Route 20, east of Johnson Road, just after 6:00 a.m. There, according to preliminary investigation, a 2012 Lincoln MKZ driven by 86-year-old Roderick Mann of Lincolnshire was traveling westbound on Route 20 when it entered the eastbound lane and struck a 1998 Honda driven by Stephan A. Ford, head on.
Mann was taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock and treated for what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Ford was pronounced dead at the scene.
Airbags deployed in the Lincoln and Mann was wearing a seatbelt. Ford was not wearing a seatbelt and his vehicle did not have airbags.
The crash is currently under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Traffic Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
