Local people check out an orientation to see just what being a Rockford police officer is all about.
The Rockford Police Department currently has an opening for a police officer. Thursday night's orientation was just one of several breaking down the application process to those interested. Some of the exams that are coming up this month are the physical agility test and the written exam. Carlos Campos thinks he would be a good fit for the job.
"I want to help my community and provide a better future for my family. Because I work in construction right now, I get laid off during the winter. Trying to get that steady job will be good for me."
The next orientation will be held January 5th at 8-10 a.m. inside the Public Safety Building.
