The Radiation Oncology Department at SwedishAmerican Hospital has a new addition.
The department installed new image-guided radiotherapy technology. The onboard imager has higher resolution than previous equipment, improving doctors' ability to see tumors, which helps to decrease treatment to at-risk organs.
The new technology is just one step closer to the completion of SwedishAmerican's new cancer center.
"The growth that we intend to do in the very near future would mean that the radiation oncology treatments would be unparalleled in our current marketplace," SwedishAmerican Radiation Oncologist Dr. Samuel Andrews said.
According to Dr. Andrews, along with the hospital's affiliation with the University of Wisconsin, the new equipment is just the beginning of a successful future for the department.
