The bill that would help Rockford improve facilities and sports tourism, didn't get past an Illinois Senate committee during the current lame-duck session.
According to Senator Dave Syverson, the Reclaiming First bill wasn't voted on in committee. The bill would allow the city to use the Hotel Tax to improve facilities in an effort to boost tourism from sporting events.
Senator Syverson plans on reintroducing the bill when the Legislature meets next and hopes it will be passed by April.
