U.S. Postal Service announces price increases - WREX.com – Rockford’s News Leader

If you want to mail a letter after January 27, you'll need an extra penny.

The United States Postal Service has announced new prices for 2013. Starting on January 27, the new pricing for a single piece of First-Class Mail will be:

• Letters (one ounce) - 46 cents (up one cent)
  
• Letters additional ounces - 20 cents (unchanged)
• Postcards - 33 cents (up one cent)
• Letters to international destinations (one ounce) - $1.10

Along with the price changes the Postal Service also announced the new First-Class Mail Global Forever Stamp, which offers a single price for any First-Class Mail International one-ounce letter to any where in the world.

Shipping services prices increased 2.6 percent and Priority mail prices increased by an average of 6.3 percent. The prices for Priority Mail Flat-Rate products are:

• Regular envelope - $5.60
• Legal-size envelope - $5.75
• Padded envelope - $5.95
• Small box - $5.80
• Medium box - $12.35
• Large box - $16.85
• Large APO/FPO/DPO box - $14.85

Express Mail prices also increased, by an average of 5.8 percent.
