Aquin Rolls Over Sterling Newman

A strong defensive effort by Aquin overcame its rusty offensive performance in defeating Newman 44-28 in a non-conference game.  Aquin held Newman to just seven first half points and 24% shooting overall.
Aquin's 19 days off since the Forreston Holiday Tournament championship game showed in its 37% overall shooting (just 6-23 from 3, 26%), but some key shots, none bigger than Zach Moyer's two 3s in the 3Q and third 3 in the 4Q, which kept Aquin's lead.
For Aquin (again had three players in double figures):

  • Zach Moyer scored 13 with 5 rebounds
  • Aiden Chang scored 11 with 5 rebounds and 5 assists
  • Nolan Brannick scored 10
For players scored in double figures:
  • 6'5" Kyle Moore led with 8 and 10 rebounds
  • AJ Sharp scored 7
Aquin is now 9-1 overall, 2-0 in the NUIC-East and will open up the 2013 conference schedule against Polo, at Aquin, on Friday.
