2 Rockford stores cited for selling tobacco to minors


The Rockford Police Department Community Services Unit and M3 Street Teams Unit teamed up with the Winnebago County Health Department to conduct tobacco compliance checks throughout the city of Rockford.

The checks were carried out on January 2, 2013. Funds from the Winnebago County Health Department were given to minors employed by the Health Department to make controlled purchases of cigarettes from businesses.

Over 125 stores were checked in Rockford and two were found to be noncompliant. They are:

  • Walgreens, 1145 North Alpine Road
  • Huck's Gas Station, 2542 Stowmarket Avenue
