Rockford PBPA warns of fraudulent telephone scam - WREX.com – Rockford’s News Leader

The Rockford Policemen's Benevolent & Protective Association (PBPA Unit 6) is warning local individuals and businesses about a fraudulent telephone scam related to the organization's Shop With a Cop program.
Telephone solicitation to support the program ended on Friday, December 21, but the organization has received reports that someone is calling homes and possibly businesses asking for donations. The caller also asks for checking account numbers or credit card numbers.
The solicitation is unauthorized. All residents of Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, Stephenson, and surrounding counties should be aware of the scam. Do not give out any personal information to the caller.
