Rockford Police release results of New Year's Eve enforcement


The Rockford Police Department hit the streets over the New Year's holiday to make sure everyone was buckled up and driving sober.

Extra patrols were added thanks to funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation, and special emphasis was given to the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., when the most people drive drunk.

The following arrests were made:

  • DUI - 4
  • Speeding - 6
  • Seat belt violations - 5
  • Suspended drivers - 2
  • Insurance violations - 2
  • Other traffic violations - 6
