Illinois State Police District 16 to run seat belt patrols in January

Posted:
WINNEBAGO COUNTY (WREX) -

Troopers with Illinois State Police District 16 will hit the streets next month to make sure everyone is buckled up properly.

Occupant Restraint Enforcement Patrols (OREP) will be held in Winnebago County throughout January. During that time, saturation patrols will be set up to focus on traffic violations and compliance with seat belt and child safety seat laws.

The goal of the patrols is to increase compliance through education, child safety seat inspections, and enforcement.
