The Harlem Community Center will use more than $4 million from a state grant to build a child care center in Loves Park.
"We are incredibly honored to receive this grant from the State of Illinois. We are also pleased that the Governor's office and Capital Development Board recognize and support the valuable impact HCC has on the communities it serves," said HCC Executive Director Shannon Scheffel.
The new facility will be 20,540 square feet and will be able to serve 170 children ages 6 weeks through preschool. Many of those kids will come from nearby businesses. "We are excited to partner with local businesses and their employees. The new building will be located within a couple miles of the new Woodward expansion, OSF Saint Anthony Rock Cut, and Zenith Cutter," said HCC Board President Chris Shields.
