The Golden Apple Foundation releases the names of the 20 teaches who are finalists for the 2013 Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching.
All of the teachers are from 6th to 12th grade in Winnebago and Boone counties. They were chosen by a selection committee of community volunteers from a group of hundreds of teachers that were nominated.
Over the next two months the teachers will be observed in their classrooms and interviewed as the committee works to select this year's five winners of the awards.
Once selected, 13 News will surprise each winning teacher with the award in their classroom and they will also be honored at the Annual Golden Apple Banquet in April.
