RVC tuition spike put on back burner

RVC students can breathe a little easier, at least for now, after a tuition raise doesn't pass.

Rock Valley College board members vote against raising tuition $4 per credit hour.  Originally there were talks from the board's finance committee of raising tuition $6 per credit hour.  A motion was made to table the tuition discussion until next meeting but that was declined.

Michael Dunn Jr., Board Chairman, says the board plans to make a final decision soon.

"We're just going to reconsider it and build consensus over the next 30 days and approve a final result in January."

If there is a revision in tuition, it will go into affect starting the 2013 fall semester.  The board reconfirmed the new performance venue.  The concert hall will be tailored to music and choir programs, seating 500.  The location of the new building will be next to Starlight and Studio Theatre.
