Rochelle Police investigating armed home invasion

A woman was tied up, gagged, and cut during an armed home invasion in Rochelle.

Police responded to the 400 block of Avenue D just after 6:30 p.m. Monday. There, they learned a Caucasian female with a small child knocked on the victim's door and asked to use the phone because the child was sick. The victim allowed her in and put her dog in another room. When the victim returned, she was attacked by an African American male with a knife.

The victim was taken to another room, tied up, gagged, and received a cut to her throat. The suspects took a small amount of money before leaving the home.

A family member found the victim and called 911. The victim was then taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Several tips have been received by investigators who are conducting interviews and looking into the case.
