The Rockford Park District presents a balanced budget, but not without an increase to the tax levy.
Park District commissioners vote to push the tax levy forward. Board members passed the vote 3 to 2.
Rockford Park District Executive Director, Tim Dimke, says without the tax increase, cuts will go even deeper than they already have.
"We just saw a little more sensitivity to the fact that if we had to cut programs further, we would be perhaps eliminating a lot of the programs that many of our families, our youth at risk and our children depend on heavily for entertainment in these challenging times."
The final budget vote comes next month.
