Goodwill encourages holiday donations

Don't wait until spring, Goodwill wants everyone to participate in holiday cleaning.

A new iPod or tablet for Christmas could replace your books or CDs.  If you're looking for a place to take them, the not-for-profit even accepts computers free of charge.  Goodwill stores all around the country are encouraging people to donate 10 items before the end of the year.

Shannon Halverson, Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois PR/Marketing says donating an unused cell phone could even benefit military overseas.

"Goodwill has a program "Phones for Soldiers" and if you donate your cell phone, 1 cell phone equals 2.5 hours of free talk time for a soldier or one of the soldier's families."

Forbes Magazine recently named Goodwill as the #2 not-for-profit in the country as well as one of America's 25 most inspiring companies.
